Illegals Today

I suppose it would be paranoid to suggest the Democrats are behind pushing throngs of healthy, well dressed illegal immigrants to our border so there can be a confrontation complete with crying children on the news right before an election. If they were refugees, they'd just step over the border into Mexico. If they are political pawns and tools, they have to get to our border.

Why don't the central Americans who say they are escaping poverty and violence just go to Mexico? It's much closer, it's a very wealthy country, and they speak the same language. Some of the requirements for citizenship are steeper, but for being guest workers, that won't matter.
