Fact checking the criminality of the illegal aliens
In President Trump’s speech Tuesday, January 8, 2019 from the Oval Office:
“In the last two years, ICE officers made 266,000 arrests of aliens with criminal records, including those charged or convicted of 100,000 assaults, 30,000 sex crimes, and 4,000 violent killings.”
Trump’s arrest numbers are correct, according to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement numbers compiled in 2017 and 2018.
The number of illegal immigrants arrested by ICE is the highest since 2014, according to a December report by the agency.
The ICE report says 158,581 illegal immigrants were arrested in fiscal year 2018, and 138,117 of those had a criminal history. This is an 11 percent increase over 2017, when 143,470 illegal immigrants were arrested, 127,992 of them with a criminal record.
“The number of people with pending charges arrested by ICE was 48 percent higher in 2018 than in 2017, while arrests of those with criminal convictions dropped slightly,” Reuters reported.
According to The Washington Post, the report “shows that 145,262 of those deported were convicted criminals and that 22,796 had criminal charges pending against them.”
So why are Democrats against a wall? They were for it before Trump became president.

Obama appoints an advocate for illegals
Victor Davis Hanson writes: "President Barack Obama recently assured El Salvador that the United States would not deport the more than 200,000 Salvadorans residing illegally in the United States. As the election nears, and the president looks to court Hispanic voters, he has also created a new position of “public advocate” for illegal immigrants, whose duties would appear to be advocating that millions circumvent, rather than follow, current federal law.
So who are the victims, and who is pushing this agenda to bring in more illegals?

"Under some convoluted logic, the administration appointed a public advocate for illegal immigrants and their lobbyists. The Department of Homeland Security, which oversees U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, touted the appointment as a positive move for the “stakeholders.”
Andrew Lorenzen-Strait was appointed as the public advocate to handle questions and issues regarding the “stakeholder community involved in immigration policy and enforcement...Engaging stakeholders and building partnerships to facilitate communication, foster collaboration and solicit input on immigration enforcement initiatives and operations.” (ICE press release)
The “stakeholder community” who entered the country or reside here illegally now have their very own public advocate. The agency that is supposed to enforce the laws of the land against them gave the stakeholder community an ombudsman."

Lorenzen-Strait has been with ICE since 2008, and last year made over $112,000. This job will probably be at a much higher salary. Many jobs depend on illegals.
